Consiglio di Rumo is a town of 1,175 inhabitants in the province of Como. The country is on the right bank of the river Liro, on the alluvial plain formed by its mouth, and developed around the center of San Gregorio. The municipal territory extends to the Swiss border and is rich fractions including Poncia (the our where there is Ca' del Lago Farm House...near Lake Como), Taiana, Guasto, Gorgotto, Giussanico, Alborescia e Brenzio.

Some of these villages are famous for their typical wine cellars dug into the rock, called "Crotti". The town's name suggests an origin prior to Roman times, as it would be referred to the Celtic "Concilium", a type of organization that brings together different areas under one central authority.
